PIRGACHHA: There is no alternative to ensuring female education to empower women and improve the quality of their life for building a youth-driven discrimination-free Bangladesh. This opinion emerged today at a women’s rally organized by the District Information Office (DIO) at Satdorgah Girls’ High School premises in Pirgachha upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rally was attended by the Director of Rangpur District Information Office, Mofkekharul Iqbal, as the chief guest, with Assistant Director Md Alamgir Kabir presiding over the event. The gathering also featured Headmaster of Satdorgah Girls’ High School, Md Rafiqul Islam, as a special guest. The event, moderated by Assistant Director of Rangpur District Information Office, Tanya Taznin Memi, saw participation from approximately 300 female students, working women, housewives, and female entrepreneurs.
In his welcome speech, Alamgir Kabir highlighted the nation’s aim to build an equity-based society free from all form
s of discrimination and exploitation to ensure equal rights for all citizens, including women. “Both men and women should equally come forward to attain this goal,” Kabir said, emphasizing that there should not be any discrimination against women in establishing a youth-driven, prosperous, discrimination-free, and accountable Bangladesh.
Chief guest Mofkekharul Iqbal remarked on the significant contribution of women to the nation’s development, noting that half of the country’s population comprises women. He stressed that increasing women’s involvement in the overall development of the country is crucial. Discussing female education, Iqbal mentioned that the government is implementing various programs to expand women’s education for their empowerment and to improve their quality of life.
Addressing the issue of child marriage, Iqbal described it as a social disease and a major obstacle in building a modern Bangladesh. He urged everyone to be vocal in preventing child marriage and to report any incidents to
the administration immediately.
