Dhaka: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today emphasized the critical role of Bangladesh’s partnership with the World Bank in advancing the country’s environmental priorities. “Together, we aim to strengthen the nation’s defenses against climate threats, protect biodiversity, and foster a sustainable environment for our people,” she stated during a meeting with a World Bank delegation led by Practice Manager Christian Albert Peter at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting focused on reinforcing Bangladesh’s climate resilience, improving environmental safeguards, and identifying opportunities for sustainable development. Christian Albert Peter highlighted the World Bank’s commitment to facilitating initiatives that promote green growth, environmental protection, and community resilience in the face of climate change challenges. “Our shared vision with Bangladesh is to integrate environmental considerations into all development projec
ts, ensuring long-term ecological health and socioeconomic well-being,” he remarked.

The discussions concluded with both parties agreeing to explore project areas and strategic interventions to address climate adaptation, sustainable development, and biodiversity conservation. Both sides expressed optimism about the potential positive impacts of these initiatives, reaffirming their dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable growth in Bangladesh. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the ministry and senior officials.
