DHAKA, Dec 29, 2016 BSS)- The results of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) Examinations-2016 were published today with the percentage of pass being 93.06.
A total of 21,83,975 students out of 23,46,959 passed the JSC and JDC exams this year, which is 85,893 higher than the previous year.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid announced the results at a press conference in his ministry. Education Secretary Md Sohrab Hossain and senior officials of the Education Ministry, among others, were present at the press conference.
While addressing the press conference, Nahid said, "We have achieved good results in almost all indicators in this year's JSC and JDC examination compared to the last year. This is a very good sign for our education
The government is implementing various programmes to promote female
education in the country, he said, adding female examinees have outnumbered their male counterpart in terms of all major indicators. "Advancement of female education is our great achievement, which has been attributed to sincere efforts and strong commitment of the government," he added.
A total of 9,450 educational institutions achieved 100 percent pass rate in this year's JSC and JDC examinations, while the number was 8,583 last year.
Of those, 1129 institutions are from Dhaka, 1517 from Rajshahi, 348 from Comilla, 999 from Jessore, 192 from Chittagong, 919 from Barisal, 244 from Sylhet, 899 from Dinajpur, while 3203 are under Madrasa Education Board.
A total of 6,247 schools under eight general education boards achieved 100 percent pass rate in this year's JSC examinations, while the number was 5,799 last year.
A total of 3203 madrasas achieved 100 per cent pass rate in this year's JDC examinations, while the number was 2,784 last year.
A total of 2, 47,588 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the JSC and JDC examinations under nine education boards this year, which was 1,96,263 last year.
The number of GPA-5 achievers under eight general education board is 2,35,059 while the figure in the madrasa education board is 12,529.
A total of 1,41,243 students have achieved GPA-5 in the JSC and JDC examinations this year, according to the results published here today.
Some 12,50,437 female students appeared in the JSC and JDC examinations. Of them, 11,65,056 have become successful, the results added.
Female examinees have outnumbered their male counterpart in terms of achieving GPA-5.
As many as 1,41,243 female students got GPA-5 while the number of GPA-5 holder male students is 1,06,345.
As many as 623 students of eight foreign centres have come out successful in the JSC examinations this year with 99.52 percent pass rate.
A total of 626 students from eight overseas centres appeared in the examinations this year. Of the successful students, as many as 84 got GPA-5.
