92 Percent of Candidates in Rajshahi Hold Educational Qualifications

Rajshahi: Thirty-eight candidates have submitted their nomination papers for six constituencies in the district for the upcoming parliamentary election, with the nominations of 19 of those declared valid.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 92 percent of the valid candidates are educated based on the submitted affidavits.



In the Rajshahi-1 constituency, the candidates include BNP-nominated Sharif Uddin, a retired Major General; Jamaat-nominated Professor Mujibur Rahman, a former college teacher; and AB Party’s Abdur Rahman, who holds a graduation degree.



For the Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency, the valid candidates are Mizanur Rahman Minu from BNP with a B.Com degree, Dr. Mohammad Jahangir from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami with an MBBS, and Sayeed Noman from AB Party with an LLB.



In Rajshahi-3, the candidates are BNP’s Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, who has an MSS degree; Jamaat-backed Abul Kalam Azad, with an MA; and Jatiya Party’s Afzal Hossain, who holds a BA degree.



The Rajshahi-4 constituency features two valid nominations: BNP-nominated D M Ziaur Rahman, holding an MA, and Jamaat’s Dr. Abdul Bari, with an MBBS degree.



For Rajshahi-5, the two candidates with valid nominations are BNP’s Professor Nazrul Islam, holding an MA, and Jamaat’s Maulana Manzur Rahman, who also has an MA.



In Rajshahi-6, three of the four submitted nominations were declared valid. These candidates are BNP’s Abu Sayed Chand, who has an SSC; Nazmul Haque; and Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Abdus Salam Suruj.



Candidates whose nominations were cancelled during the scrutiny process have the opportunity to submit appeals against the returning officer’s decision. The deadline for candidates to withdraw their nomination papers is January 20, with election symbols to be allocated the following day, January 21.
