Dhaka: The 5th Forum on Chinese Language Education in Bangladesh was held today at Dhaka University, focusing on the theme “Integration of Digital Intelligence and Localization: Pathways to High-Quality Development of Chinese Language Education in Bangladesh.” Dhaka University’s Institute of Modern Languages (IML) organized the event, which was inaugurated by DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the forum was jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University, North South University, and Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom, with support from the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka. A significant highlight of the opening session was the announcement of the formation of the Bangladesh Chinese Language Teachers Association, signaling a new era of institutional cooperation in Chinese language education.
The daylong event featured academic discussions and concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony. Professor Sayema expressed aspirations for strengthening academic ties, emphasizing the shared history of friendship between Bangladesh and China. “Strengthening academic and technological collaboration through language education will further deepen that bond,” she noted.
Dr. Yang Hui, Director of the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University, highlighted the rapid advancement of Chinese language education in Bangladesh, noting the growing interest among students. He stressed that “the integration of digital tools and local adaptation will ensure sustainable development in this field.”
