Dhaka: The National Consensus Commission (NCC) Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz has articulated the need for establishing a legal framework to implement recommendations on constitutional issues. At a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital, Professor Riaz outlined the commission's recommendations, which are aimed at streamlining the process of addressing constitutional concerns.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the recommendations comprise three main parts. The first part suggests that issues unrelated to constitutional matters, which can be implemented through ordinances, should be addressed by the government immediately. The second part advocates for the implementation of recommendations through government or office orders, urging the government to act without delay.
Professor Riaz emphasized that there is unanimity among the political parties involved in the commission's dialogue concerning these two points. He noted that consensus reached through discussions has been duly communicated to the government.
Furthermore, Professor Riaz remarked that discussions with political parties revealed a broad consensus on many constitutional issues, despite some differences. To provide a legal basis and a clear implementation pathway for these constitutional matters, the third recommendation details several steps for moving forward.
Earlier today, the NCC formally presented its recommendations for the implementation of the 'July National Charter, 2025' to Chief Adviser of the Interim Government and Chairman of the NCC, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the State Guest House Jamuna.
