4 attackers of Taiwanese couple held in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four suspected culprits, including a woman, who allegedly tried to kill a Taiwanese couple at a house in capital's Uttara area last year, RAB said today.

"They were arrested last night from Azampur area of Uttara," RAB Legal and Media Wing Assistant Director Senior ASP Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan said this afternoon.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Saju Mia, 28, Mohammad Laju Mia, 30, M Jahangir Alam, 40 and M Ebadul Haque alias Swapan, 24. They were former colleagues of the inured couple.

The Taiwanese couple - Wang Ming Chi, 54, and his wife Li Li Hwa, 50 - have been living in Bangladesh for the last 10 years as they own a business in Gazipur area. Ming Chi is the managing director of Xin Xing Yang International Company Limited and Li Hwa is a director of the factory.

RAB said the attackers entered their house opening the door with a

duplicate key on November 5, 2105. They swooped on the couple and looted Taka six lakh from the house.

Chi is still undergoing treatment in Taiwan, the RAB official added.

Soon after the robbery, general manager of the company Zin Zing Yang filed a case with Uttara East Police Station last year.
