Doha: Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam announced today that the deposed Sheikh Hasina government had left significant unpaid dues for LNG imports from Qatar, amounting to hundreds of millions of US Dollars. However, the interim government is actively working to settle these dues imminently.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam confirmed on the sidelines of the Earthna Summit in Doha that the interim government has already cleared a substantial portion of the outstanding payments for LNG imported from Qatar. He emphasized that the remaining $37 million will be settled within the next couple of days.
Earlier, Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs, met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the summit. The meeting was also attended by Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, and Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs Lamiya Morshed.
