SATKHIRA: A mobile court has imposed fines totaling Tk 7.5 lakh on the owners of three brick kilns in Satkhira's Sadar upazila for operating without the necessary approvals from the Department of Environment and other irregularities. The enforcement action highlights ongoing efforts to regulate environmental compliance in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Pronoy Biswas, conducted a drive targeting M.M Bricks, Soudia Bricks, and Nit Bricks located in various parts of the upazila. The court imposed fines on these establishments for manufacturing bricks without requisite environmental approval, reflecting the government's commitment to curbing illegal industrial activities.
Sardar Shariful Islam, the assistant director of the Department of Environment in Satkhira, was present during the operation, underscoring the department's active role in monitoring and enforcing environmental regulations. The drive was further supported by members of law enforcement agencies, ensuring compliance and the smooth execution of the court's orders.
This operation is part of a broader initiative to ensure that brick kilns adhere to environmental guidelines, aimed at reducing pollution and safeguarding public health. The fines serve as a warning to other operators in the region to comply with legal requirements or face similar penalties.
