Dhaka: Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has announced the construction of 220 stadiums in upazilas across the country, which will be named after the July movement martyrs specific to each upazila. He shared this announcement during the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Shaheed Farhan Fayyaz playground’ for the physically challenged, located on the west side of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Sports Adviser emphasized the irreplaceable value of the sacrifices and blood of those who were martyred in the July uprising. He stated that while their sacrifices cannot be fully compensated, efforts are being made to honor them. The government has taken a policy decision to name the 220 stadiums after the martyrs from each respective upazila.
Furthermore, plans are underway to include the heroic stories of these martyrs in school textbooks by the 2025 academic year. This initiative aims to ensure that the valor of the martyrs and the significance of the July uprisi
ng are remembered by future generations. The Ministry of Education is actively involved in this effort.
The event was attended by Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat Md. Anwar Ullah as a special guest and was presided over by Youth and Sports Ministry secretary Dr. Rezaul Makshud Zahedi. Shaheed Farhan Fayyaz’s parents, Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan and Farhana Diba, were present as guests of honor.
