DHAKA: The Department of Environment (DoE) today executed 19 mobile court drives across the nation to tackle the illegal production, sale, distribution, and marketing of banned polythene.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these operations led to 35 business entities being fined a total of Taka 1,32,400, with 2,945 kilograms of polythene seized during the process. A press release from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change stated that the DoE plans to persist with these anti-pollution efforts to further reduce the environmental impact caused by polythene.
The Ministry emphasizes the importance of these actions in enforcing the existing ban on polythene and raising awareness among businesses about the environmental hazards associated with its use. The DoE’s initiative reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices and its determination to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
