DHAKA: A legal case has been initiated against 19 individuals, including Dr. AKM Saiful Majid, the former chairman of Grameen Bank, for allegedly occupying the Grameen Telecom building in Dhaka's Mirpur area. The case was lodged today by Grameen Telecom's managing director, Nazmul Islam, at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's court. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court recorded the statement of the complainant and directed the officer-in-charge of Shah Ali Police Station to register the incident as a first information report. The accused include notable figures such as Abdul Quddus, Foyjul Haque, and Mamunur Rashid, among others. The case documents reveal that the accused unlawfully entered the Grameen Telecom premises on February 12, 2024, and subsequently caused damage by vandalizing important documents and furniture. This legal action follows a related lawsuit filed on November 10 by Grameen Kalyan Managing Director AKM Moinuddin Chowdhury.
