17th Annual Senate Meeting Convenes at Bangladesh University of Professionals

Dhaka: The 17th annual senate meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held at the Bijoy Auditorium of BUP today. BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam presided over the meeting, as confirmed by an ISPR release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, at the outset of the meeting, the BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman expressed gratitude to the outgoing members and extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed members. The revised 2024-2025 fiscal year budget, amounting to Taka 134.8 crore, was presented by BUP Treasurer Air Commodore Md Reza Emdad Khan, who also announced a Taka 134.97 crore budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026. Both budgets received unanimous approval from the senate members. Additionally, the 17th annual report was presented and approved during the meeting. BUP Registrar Brigadier General Md Rabbi Ahsan conducted the proceedings.



Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam highlighted the achievements of BUP students, faculty members, and researchers, who have gained national and international recognition. He emphasized the university’s goal to achieve excellence in modern education, research, and innovation through a well-defined “Academic Strategic Plan-2050”. Efforts are underway to modernize curricula, implement Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum, and enhance research and innovation.



The Vice Chancellor informed the senate of BUP’s initiatives to promote research, innovation, and consultancy through the integrated faculty and affiliated institutions under BUP Research Centre (BRC). The centre fosters high-quality research and connects academia, industry, and institutions. BUP publishes five journals annually to share research knowledge, which have gained recognition.



The Senate Chairman reiterated BUP’s commitment to nurturing students not only academically but also as ethical and responsible citizens. Ethical education is incorporated into all program curricula. To attract international students and promote cultural engagement, BUP is taking necessary steps. Furthermore, seminars, symposiums, and cultural events are organized to instill moral values and patriotism among students.



The meeting was attended by secretaries from various ministries, high officials from Bangladesh Armed Forces, and high-ranking officials of BUP.
