Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain today stated that zakat is one of the best ways to alleviate poverty. Highlighting the significance of providing zakat, the religious affairs adviser said, “By giving zakat, we not only obey the commandments of Allah but also receive His mercy. Zakat increases the flow of money in the market and creates employment opportunities. In addition, it brings smiles to the faces of the poor.”
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Hossain made these remarks while addressing a seminar titled ‘Role of Zakat in Poverty Alleviation’ at the Baitul Mukarram Islamic Foundation auditorium in the capital. The seminar was organized by the Islamic Foundation and was presided over by its Director General A. Salam Khan.
The event also saw the attendance of IF Board of Governors’ Governor Maulana Syed Mosaddek Billah Al Madani, Dr. Khalilur Rahman Madani, and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Awal Hawlader, who participated as special guests.
