Farooq-e-Azam Lays Foundation Stone for Bangladesh Red Crescent Headquarters

Dhaka: Adviser to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Affairs, Freedom Fighter Farooq-e-Azam, today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Headquarters at Moghbazar in the city.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the ceremony, Farooq-e-Azam emphasized the importance of coordinated volunteer efforts during disasters. He noted that while the people of Bangladesh are eager to help during crises, a lack of coordination often prevents the full potential of these efforts from being realized. He encouraged the Red Crescent to assume a more integrated role in disaster management and assured continued government cooperation.



Prominent figures such as Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Chairman Major General (Retd) Prof Dr Md Azizul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Md Mostafizur Rahman, and Member of Management Board Dr Sheikh Abu Zafar were present at the event. Other notable attendees included Professor Dr Imran Bin Yunus, Air Commodore (Retd) Shahe Alam, and Project Director and Joint Secretary of the Ministry Abu Daud Md Golam Mustafa.



The project involves constructing a 10-storey building with an estimated cost of Taka 495.6 crore. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief is overseeing the project, which is funded by the government and is expected to be completed by next June.
