Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today announced that BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in the UK, during Yunus’ four-day official visit. The anticipated meeting is set to occur on June 13, between 9 am and 11 am (London time) at the Hotel Dorchester, where the Chief Adviser is currently staying.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting is seen as a potential turning point in addressing the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh. Fakhrul emphasized that the Chief Adviser personally invited Tarique Rahman, which could lead to a positive development in the country’s political landscape. He expressed hope that the interaction between the two leaders might create new opportunities to address the challenges faced by Bangladesh.

Fakhrul mentioned that full authority has been given to Tarique Rahman by the party, and they are hopeful for his success in the meeting. He highlighted that the possibility of this meeting was contemplated some days ago when it was decided that the Chief Adviser would travel to London. Given that the BNP’s acting chairman is already present in the UK, the meeting was deemed feasible and has now been confirmed.

Additionally, Fakhrul noted that a meeting of the party’s standing committee was conducted last night, chaired by Tarique Rahman, to discuss the upcoming interaction with the Chief Adviser.
