Youth’s Active Participation Can Contribute to Curb Corruption

Khulna: Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhtar Ahmed today emphasized that corruption is a social disease and stressed that the fight against it must begin with oneself. Highlighting the potential of the younger generation, he remarked that their strength and active participation could significantly help in curbing corruption.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md Mokhtar Ahmed made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a discussion held to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day. The event took place at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office this morning, focusing on this year’s theme: ‘Youth united against Corruption: Building a Future of Integrity.’



The chief guest further elaborated that societal change begins with individual mindset shifts, advocating for honesty in daily life as a means to eradicate corruption. He stated that those who engage in corrupt practices lose their moral compass. He also mentioned that ensuring others’ rights while responsibly carrying out duties would reduce the need for legal enforcement.



The discussion was presided over by Deputy Commissioner ASM Jamshed Khondaker, and featured contributions from special guests including Additional Police Commissioner of KMP Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, Additional DIG Zayn Uddin, Director of the ACC Khulna Divisional Office Jalal Uddin Ahmad, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, and Professor Moni Mohan Saha, President of the District Corruption Prevention Committee.



Md. Abdul Wadud, Deputy Director of the ACC Integrated District Office, delivered the welcome speech. To commemorate the day, national and ACC flags were hoisted, and festoons and balloons were released on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Additionally, a human chain was formed in front of the office building as part of the day’s activities.
