Gulshan: The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) has hosted a pre-departure reception for eight students from the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER) who have been selected to participate in a technical training program in China. The event took place at the BCCCI office in Gulshan on Saturday, as stated in a press release issued on Sunday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan, ndc, attended the programme as the chief guest. He commended BCCCI President Mohd Khorshed Alam for his initiative to enhance the skills of Bangladesh's textile sector workforce. The commerce secretary highlighted the importance of such initiatives by private-sector leaders in creating valuable practical learning opportunities and encouraged other business leaders to launch similar programs for national benefit.
He expressed gratitude towards BCCCI for organizing the program and hoped it would set a precedent for strengthening industry-academia collaboration. The secretary emphasized the importance of international technical exposure for Bangladeshi students and described the program as a practical step towards bridging the gap between policy discussions and implementation. He noted that Bangladesh's future industrial competitiveness will hinge on skilled human resources, hands-on learning, and a business-friendly environment.
BCCCI President Md Khorshed Alam, speaking at the event, reiterated the chamber's commitment to developing future textile professionals in Bangladesh through international exposure and hands-on learning. Drawing from his experience visiting industries in 46 countries, he emphasized adopting global best practices in clean production, workplace safety, energy efficiency, and modern manufacturing technologies. Alam urged the students to maximize their training opportunity in China and return with practical knowledge to aid in the modernization of Bangladesh's textile and garment sector.
The event also included a documentary presentation on the initiative and reflections from the participating NITER students. Notable attendees included NITER Director Ashikul Alam Rana, External Faculty of Zhejiang Agricultural Business College Hamidur Rahman, BCCCI Secretary General, senior vice presidents, vice presidents, directors, chamber members, media representatives, and other distinguished guests.
