Chattogram: A young man was stabbed to death by a snatcher when the victim attempted to catch the fleeing snatcher in the Jail Road area of the city last night. The incident has shocked the local community as the tragedy unfolded in front of Sahah Amanat Mazar Gate.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victim, whose identity could not be immediately confirmed, was 25 years old. The snatcher, whose identity remains unknown, was beaten severely by an angry mob at the scene and is currently receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, as stated by Officer-in-Charge Abdul Karim of Kotwali Police.
Witnesses and police reported that the incident occurred at approximately 12:30 am. The snatcher was attempting to escape after committing a crime at the Laldighi intersection. Sensing the situation, a group of agitated bystanders began chasing him. As the commotion unfolded, the victim intervened in an attempt to apprehend the snatcher, who responded by stabbing him multiple times. The crowd eventually caught the snatcher and subjected him to a severe beating.
Local residents rushed the injured young man to Chattogram General Hospital, but he was later transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Kotwali police quickly responded to the scene, apprehended the snatcher, and ensured his transport to the hospital for necessary medical attention.
