Narsingdi: A youth died after being struck by a train in Palash upazila this morning. The deceased was identified as Soikat Chandra Dey, 30, son of Uttam Kumar Dey of Paiksa village in Ghorashal. He was also a laborer at Pran Industrial Park.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Soikat was talking on his phone while walking along the railway track around 11:30 am when the Dhaka-bound ‘Upakul Express’ train hit him. Locals rescued him in critical condition and took him to Palash Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Ghorashal Police Outpost In-Charge Yusuf Mia stated that police recovered the body after receiving the information. It will be handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.
