Gaibandha: World Milk Day-2026 was observed in the district today, as elsewhere in the country and across the globe, with a call to inspire women farmers to boost milk production and help build a healthy nation. This year's theme was "Celebrating Women Farmers".
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district Livestock Department organized several programs to mark the day. At around 11 am, a post-rally discussion on the significance of the day was held in the conference room of the District Livestock Office, with District Livestock Officer (DLO) Dr Md Abdur Razzak presiding over the event.
The Deputy Director of the District Artificial Insemination Centre, Shahidul Islam Akanda, addressed the function as the chief guest. Other prominent speakers included Gobindaganj Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Abdus Samad, Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Tarun Kumar Datta, and Upazila Veterinary Surgeon Dr Ruhul Kabir Riyad.
During his speech, the deputy director emphasized that milk is indispensable for building a healthy nation and a prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. In his concluding remarks, DLO Dr Md Abdur Razzak mentioned that the department is undertaking various initiatives to raise public awareness about milk production, its nutritional value, milk yield, and its economic importance.
A number of district-level officials, dairy farm owners, invited guests, and journalists from print and electronic media attended the program.
