World Milk Day 2025 Observed in Khulna with Focus on Nutrition Awareness

Khulna: The World Milk Day 2025 was observed in Khulna in a befitting manner today. Marking the Day, an awareness seminar was held at the auditorium of the Divisional Livestock Office in Khulna.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Khulna District Livestock Office and supported by the Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP) under the theme “Let’s unite in the Power of Milk.” Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar, speaking as the chief guest, emphasized that milk is unparalleled in its nutritional value and essential for building an intelligent and capable nation. He pointed out the lack of accurate knowledge about milk’s nutritional benefits among children and parents, which has led to a shift towards fast food, depriving children of necessary nutrition.



Commissioner Sarkar suggested that awareness campaigns be conducted in educational institutions to educate students about the benefits of milk. He also addressed farmers, acknowledging their role in meeting the nation’s nutritional needs and urged them to avoid milk adulteration. He further called on veterinary doctors at the field level to provide proper advice and treatment to farmers and their livestock.



Dr. Nurullah Md. Ahsan, director of the Divisional Livestock Office, presided over the seminar, while Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim, principal of Dumuria Institute of Livestock Science and Technology, and Dr. A B M Zakir Hossain, deputy director of the Divisional Livestock Office, addressed the gathering as distinguished guests. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, Khulna District Livestock Officer.



The day began with a colorful rally in the city, which started and ended at the District Livestock Office premises, adding to the enthusiasm and awareness about the nutritional significance of milk.
