Dhaka: The World Diabetes Day will be observed in the country tomorrow as elsewhere in the globe in a befitting manner to make the people aware about the disease. This year's theme is "Diabetes and Well-being," with a specific focus on "Diabetes in the Workplace".

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on the eve of the day, Chief Adviser (CA) of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus issued a message stressing the importance of creating awareness about the disease at workplaces. The surrounding atmosphere at work can be suitable for diabetes patients, and awareness can significantly improve their well-being.

Professor Yunus emphasized that diabetes is a preventable and controllable disease. If managed properly, patients can lead active and normal lives similar to others. However, diabetes patients often experience mental issues, including anxiety, which requires attention.

The CA highlighted the importance of practicing some disciplines to prevent the disease. Regular exercise, controlling body weight, and consuming healthy food at the right time can help manage diabetes effectively, even in workplace settings.

Since the establishment of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh, various programs, including awareness campaigns, have been undertaken to resist and control diabetes. The present interim government continues to support efforts to prevent and control the disease, Professor Yunus added.
