Khulna: World Children's Day and Child Rights Week was inaugurated today in the district in a befitting manner. The event was a collaborative effort organized by the Deputy Commissioner's Office and the District Shishu Academy, with support from the Khulna Women's Affairs Department and Islamic Relief Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Additional District Commissioner (Education and ICT) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas addressed the function as the chief guest, with District Child Affairs Officer Md Saddam Hossain presiding over the event. This year's theme, "Listen to children today, act for children," was highlighted throughout the program.
During the event, officials and guests emphasized the crucial need to uphold every child's physical, mental, cultural, and educational rights. They called upon families, schools, and institutions to foster child-friendly environments and cautioned against imposing ideas on children by force.
Speakers at the event remarked that nurturing children with affection, knowledge, and freedom of thought is essential for developing citizens capable of making positive contributions to society. The gathering also heard from Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam and Deputy Director (Acting) of the Women's Affairs Department Suriya Siddika, among others.
The celebration concluded on a high note with a lively cultural performance by children, capping off a day dedicated to the rights and well-being of the younger generation.
