Manikganj: The World Breast Feeding Day 2025 was observed with great enthusiasm in Manikganj through a series of programs organized by the Institution of Public Health Nutrition.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the celebration began with a vibrant rally in the district town, which saw participation from officials of the Health Department, Family Planning, and other organizations. The rally aimed to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and its benefits for both infants and mothers.
Following the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the Civil Surgeon. Dr. Md. Khurshid Alam, the Civil Surgeon of Manikganj, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The discussion focused on the critical role of breastfeeding in promoting child health and nutrition.
Several distinguished speakers addressed the gathering, including Deputy Director of Family Planning Dr. Zakia Akter, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Lutfar Rahman, and Residential Medical Officer of Manikganj Sadar 250-bed Hospital Dr. Towhidul Islam. The Manikganj Press Club President, Zahangir Alam Biswas, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative Dr. Eshita Farha, and Medical Officer Ayesha Siddiqa also shared their insights on the occasion.
The event highlighted the collaborative efforts of various health and family planning organizations in promoting breastfeeding as a public health priority.
