11 Deputy Inspectors General Transferred to New Stations

Dhaka: The government has transferred 11 Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) of Police to new stations. The Public Security Division of the Home Ministry has issued a gazette notification signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman in this regard here today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification detailed the new postings for the DIGs. Md Zillur Rahman, previously the additional director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has been reassigned to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) as its additional commissioner. Faruk Ahmed, who served as additional commissioner of DMP, will now take the role of additional director general at RAB.



Md Shafiqul Islam, formerly the DIG of Highway Police, has been appointed as an additional director general at DMP. Barrister Md Zillur Rahman, previously stationed at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi, has been transferred to the Railway Police as DIG.



Additionally, Md Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, who was with the Railway Police, is now the commandant at the Police Training Centre (PTC) in Khulna. Md Abul Khair, previously with the Armed Police Battalion in Dhaka, will serve as commandant at the Traffic and Driving School in Dhaka. Sheikh Mohammad Rezaul Haider has moved from the Railway Police to the PTC in Rangpur as commandant.



In further changes, Abdul Quddus Chowdhury, the former commandant of PTC Khulna, is now the commissioner at Sylhet Metropolitan Police. Shamima Begum, who was with the Special Branch, has taken the role of DIG at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi. Md Sayedur Rahman, previously with the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), is now the director at the Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh. Lastly, Md Abul Kalam Azad moves from the Highway Police in Dhaka to serve as a DIG at PBI.



The order, issued in the public interest, is effective immediately.
