Meherpur: The World Autism Awareness Day 2025 was observed here today like elsewhere in the country. This year’s theme of the day is “Welcoming Neurodiversity, Building a Sustainable Society.” To mark the day, Meherpur district administration and social services department jointly held a discussion at the deputy commissioner’s conference room.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the discussion was presided over by the deputy director of the social services department, Asadul Islam, with deputy commissioner Sifat Minhaz attending as the chief guest. The event featured speeches from police inspector Bozlur Rahman, Polashipara Social Welfare Organization’s executive director Mosharrof Hossen, disability consultant Dr. Abdul Hai, Meherpur Autistic School teacher Payel Uddin, and guardian Afroza Khatun, among others.
Earlier in the day, a rally was organized from the deputy commissioner’s office premises. Participants marched through key roads in the town before returning to the starting point, emphasizing the importance of awareness and inclusion for individuals with autism.
