Rajshahi: A three-day workshop titled 'Academic and Professional Writing' commenced today at the Institute of English and Other Languages (IEOL) of Rajshahi University (RU). Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Mamunur Rashid inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest, while IEOL Director Professor Masud Akhtar presided over the event.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the workshop was graced by the presence of RU Treasurer Professor Motiar Rahman, Syndicate Member and Japanese Language Teacher at IEOL Professor Rezaul Karim, Director of the Institute of Bangladesh Studies Professor Mostafa Kamal, Director of the Office of International Affairs Professor Sajjadur Rahim, and Director of the Institute of Education and Research Professor Akhtar Banu.
During his address, the Pro-Vice Chancellor emphasized that teaching and research alone are insufficient at the university level. He highlighted the necessity of mastering special techniques for diverse purposes, particularly for preparing testimonials and research proposals, as well as email communication for higher education and other pertinent needs.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor further noted the importance of preparing, editing, and presenting research papers in clear language for research publications and seminars-conferences. He expressed that workshops like this will be instrumental in equipping participants with these essential skills.
Distinguished resource persons from RU are slated to lead discussions in five academic sessions throughout the workshop. Lecturers from various departments of RU are actively participating in this enriching academic event.
