Bakerganj Forum in association with Harvest Plus Bangladesh, under the “Commercialization of Bio-fortified Crops” project has organized a workshop on the production and marketing of Zinc Paddy on Tuesday morning.
The programme was chaired by Executive Director of Bakerganj Forum Md Shah Alam Howlader. Deputy Director of Jashore Agricultural Extension Department Md Nuruzzaman attended the program as chief guest while Senior Officer of Jashore Agricultural Marketing Department Md Rabiul Islam, Divisional Coordinator of Harvest Plus Md Zahid Hussain, Project Officer of Harvest Plus Ruhul Quddus and Keshabpur Upazila Food Inspector SM Rakibul Hasan joined the program as special guests.
“Supply of zinc rice in the market has to be ensured. Besides, the consumers have to be made conscious about the benefits of zinc rice,” said Nuruzzaman.
He added that zinc rice has many nutritional benefits. It helps in the proper development of a person’s mental capabilities.
Nuruzzaman requested the farmers to increase the production of zinc rice. He also assured to provide necessary assistance to those entrepreneurs who harvest zinc rice.
A total of 40 people including millers, storekeepers, farmers and rice traders attended the program and vowed to collectively work towards the production and marketing of zinc rice in the coming days.
