Dhaka: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has emphasized that the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna serves as a reminder to work collectively for prosperity, transcending religious differences. “The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna teaches us two important lessons: unity and awakening of self-power,” he stated.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Bidhan made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a discussion and award distribution ceremony organized on the occasion of Janmashtami Festival 2025 at Dhakeshwari National Temple on Tuesday. He urged everyone to collaborate for the nation’s welfare, setting aside differences during the Janmashtami celebrations. “Forgetting religious differences, working together, and being devoted to one’s duties are the ways to express our true devotion to Lord Krishna,” Dr Bidhan added.

The event began with a welcome address by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, who stressed the importance of cooperation and sympathy among all, irrespective of religion and caste, as essential for maintaining harmony. The DMP Commissioner assured that comprehensive security measures were in place to ensure the smooth observance of the Janmashtami festival procession and related activities. “In this subcontinent, people of different religions have been celebrating festivals together for centuries while upholding the tradition of harmony,” he remarked.

The program also featured Hindu Dharmiyo Kalyan Trust Vice Chairman Tapan Majumder as a special guest, with Metropolitan Sarbojanin Puja Committee President Jayanta Kumar Deb presiding over the meeting. Members of the Metropolitan Sarbojanin Puja Committee and Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad were also in attendance. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to winners of painting and Gitapath competitions.
