Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam today stated that every prosecutor under his leadership must prioritize integrity over personal interests or step aside. This announcement came after a prosecutor’s resignation and the acceptance of that resignation, prompting an internal investigation from the Office of the Chief Prosecutor.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md Aminul Islam revealed at a press briefing that serious allegations have surfaced against a resigned prosecutor. These allegations should not have been associated with their prosecutors, and he emphasized that legal action would be pursued if a formal complaint is lodged.

Addressing journalists at the Chief Prosecutor’s Office, Md Aminul Islam discussed his efforts to enhance the dynamism of the ICT. He has been actively engaging with case investigators and prosecutors and has taken charge of several case files to ensure proper management and oversight in the interest of justice.

The press briefing was in response to reports about former prosecutor Md Saimum Reza Talukder, who allegedly attempted to negotiate with the family of an accused for a substantial financial sum at the ICT. Md Saimum Reza Talukder submitted his resignation on March 9.
