Women’s Football Team Set to Depart for AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers

Dhaka: Bangladesh women’s football team is scheduled to depart for Laos tomorrow to participate in the qualifying round of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the SAFF U-20 Women’s Champions Bangladesh team has been placed in Group H alongside South Korea, Timor-Leste, and hosts Cambodia. The team is set to commence their campaign against Cambodia on August 6. Subsequent matches will be played against Timor-Leste on August 8 and South Korea on August 10. All fixtures are scheduled at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane, Laos.



The Bangladesh team is reportedly retaining the same squad that recently competed in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship. In this first phase of the tournament, a total of thirty-three Asian teams, divided into eight groups, will vie for a spot in the final round. The eight group champions and the best three group runners-up will join hosts Thailand in the 12-team final round.



The biennial international youth football championship, organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for women’s under-20 national teams in Asia, will see its final round held in Thailand next year.



The Bangladesh squad includes Mile Akter, Mst Fardosi Akter Shonale, Swarna Rani Mandal, Afeida Khandakar, Mst Ruma Akter, Kanom Akter, Mst Joynob Bibi Rita, Mst Surma Jannat, Mst Oeyshi Khatun, Ayonto Bala Mahato, Kanon Rani Bahadur, Nadia Akter Juti, Mst Bonna Khatun, Nabiran Khatun, Shanti Mardi, Rupa Akter, Most Munki Akhter, Sapna Rani, Sinha Jahan Shikha, Mst Sagorika, Umehla Marma, Puja Das, and Sree Moti Trishna Rani.
