Gaibandha: A woman was killed and at least 12 passengers were injured after a passenger bus overturned into a roadside ditch in the Thutiapukur area on the Palashbari-Gaibandha Road in the district this morning. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when the driver of a Gaibandha-bound bus from Dhaka lost control of the vehicle. This loss of control caused the bus to veer off the road and plunge into a ditch before overturning. A female passenger, identified as Rikta Khatun, aged 27, died on the spot. She was the wife of Azizal Haque from the Sahar Bazar area under Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. Meanwhile, 12 other passengers sustained injuries during the crash. Upon receiving information, firefighters from the local Fire Service and Civil Defence station promptly arrived at the scene. They recovered the body and rescued the injured passengers. The injured individuals were transported to Gaibandha Sadar General Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, two of the passengers were later referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for more advanced treatment. The identities of the injured passengers have not been confirmed at this time. Officer-in-Charge of Palashbari Police Station, Mojammel Haque, confirmed the incident.
