Dhaka: The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) executed mobile court operations at Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Moghbazar and Monowara Hospital on Bailey Road in the capital. Ad-din Hospital faced a fine of Tk 300,000 due to identified irregularities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DSCC executive magistrate Md. Aminul Islam led the operation this afternoon. The inspection included an examination of stored food items in the hospital canteen, various wards, and the kitchen area. Several violations were uncovered, such as storing unlabeled and stale frozen sweets in the canteen refrigerator, maintaining an unhygienic kitchen environment, and failing to provide adequate lighting and ventilation in several wards. Additionally, the absence of temperature-monitoring devices in the hospital refrigerators was noted.
Consequently, the hospital was penalized with a Tk 100,000 fine under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and Tk 200,000 under the Safe Food Act, totaling Tk 300,000, which was collected immediately. Alongside the fine, hospital authorities were instructed to enhance the overall environment, ensure proper lighting and ventilation for patients, install temperature-monitoring devices in refrigerators, upgrade the canteen's standards, and relocate the bakery facility.
Meanwhile, a mobile court also inspected Monowara Hospital on Bailey Road on the same day. The hospital's management and quality of services were reviewed, leading to guidance and recommendations for improvement on various issues. Government officials were present during these operations.
