Thakurgaon:A court in Thakurgaon has ordered a woman to be jailed after investigations revealed that a rape case she filed was false and fabricated. The case, involving an accusation against Md Saddam Hossain, was initially investigated by Baliadangi Police and later by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
According to United News of Bangladesh, the investigations found no evidence to support the allegations made by Labli Akter, who claimed that Saddam had raped her in a cornfield. The initial police report suggested the case was an attempt to socially and financially harm Saddam, motivated by a grudge.
Labli Akter, from Uttar Pariya (Nitaldoba) village, had contested the police findings by filing a naraji petition, prompting the tribunal to instruct the PBI to carry out a further investigation. The PBI's investigation confirmed the falsity of the claims, leading to Saddam's acquittal.
Subsequently, the court took action against Labli for allegedly filing a false case, issuing an arrest warrant under Section 17(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Labli surrendered to the court and requested bail, which was denied by Judge Md Abdul Hamid of the Thakurgaon Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal. She was then ordered to be sent to jail.
