Woman Dies in Pirojpur Road Accident.

Pirojpur: A woman was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a battery-run auto rickshaw on the Hularhat-Pirojpur road in the Nimtala area under Sadar upazila of the district this morning. The deceased is identified as Akhi Akhter, 34, wife of Imran Hawlader, a resident of Chirapara village under Kaukhali upazila. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic incident occurred when Akhi and others were traveling to Kaukhali from Pirojpur in a battery-run auto rickshaw. The vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a bus around 9:40 am as the auto rickshaw attempted to overtake another auto rickshaw. This collision resulted in injuries to five people, including the driver of the battery-run auto rickshaw, confirmed Abdus Sobhan, officer-in-charge of Pirojpur Sadar Police Station. Local residents promptly responded by rescuing the injured and transporting them to Pirojpur General Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, the victims were later transf erred to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for more advanced treatment. Unfortunately, Akhi Akhter succumbed to her injuries while en route to the hospital. The police have seized the bus involved in the accident, and legal proceedings are currently underway, as stated by the officer-in-charge.
