Woman Day Laborer’s Body Recovered in Khulna, Four Arrested

Dhaka: Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a woman day laborer from an under-construction building in Khulna city and arrested four suspects in connection with the killing. The deceased was identified as Monwara Begum Supti, 43, a resident of Shovna union in Dumuria upazila in Khulna. She had been living in a rented house at Mostar Mor in the city.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police discovered her decomposed body in a bathroom of a building in the KDA Moyuri Residential Area around 11:30 am Tuesday. They arrested four suspects in this connection. The arrested individuals are identified as Yusuf, Humayun Kabir, Johora, and Shilpi.



The police and locals reported that law enforcers were conducting an operation in the area to arrest Yusuf, who is a fugitive accused in multiple drug cases. During the operation, a strong stench led officers to discover the body. Subsequently, Yusuf and his associates were detained and reportedly confessed to the crime.



Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Harintana Police Station Touhidur Rahman mentioned that while the motive is not yet confirmed, it is suspected that the woman may have been killed over money or after resisting sexual assault. Shah Jamal Sardar Soaal, the victim’s son, has filed a case against the accused with Harintana Police Station in this connection.
