Panchagarh:The feeling of winter is gradually intensifying in the northern border district of Panchagarh as temperatures continue to decline, bringing a noticeable chill to the region, particularly at night and in the early morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minimum temperature in the district dropped to 17 degrees Celsius today, down from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius recorded over the past several days. The temperature was recorded at 9 am on Sunday at the Tetulia Weather Observation Centre.
On Saturday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.7 degrees Celsius at the same time, while the maximum temperature during the day reached 31.8 degrees Celsius. Fog has been appearing in different parts of the district from late at night until early morning, covering roads, highways, and open fields. Vehicles are often seen moving with their headlights on at dawn to ensure visibility amid the fog.
Local residents said the chill becomes more pronounced after sunset, while cold winds and fog in the early morning are adding to the wintry feel. However, temperatures rise during the day as sunshine brings relief from the cold. Jitendranath Roy, acting officer of the Tetulia Weather Observation Centre, noted that temperatures had gradually started to fall, while fog at night and in the early morning was becoming more frequent.
He added that the weather remains relatively warm during the day due to comparatively high temperatures, but nights and early mornings are becoming increasingly chilly. Temperatures may decline further in the coming days, intensifying the feeling of winter in the district, he added.
