Panchagarh:Import and export activities have resumed through the Banglabandha Land Port (BLP) in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh. This follows an eight-day suspension due to the Durga Puja festival, a significant religious event for the Sanaton community.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BLP area is once again active, with businesspeople, laborers, and transport sector workers returning to their duties after the extended holiday. The resumption of operations has brought the port back to its bustling state.
Import-export activities at the port were halted for eight days starting October 17, aligning with public holidays in India and Bangladesh for Durga Puja, in addition to weekly holidays. Md Rezaul Karim Shahin, Convener of the BLP Import-Export Group, confirmed that cargo trucks began entering the port as activities resumed.
Md Abul Kalam Azad, Manager of Banglabandha Land Port Limited, noted that trucks carrying goods from India, Nepal, and Bhutan have already started arriving at the BLP. Despite the suspension of import and export activities, Md Kifayatullah Wares, Officer-in-Charge of the immigration check post at the BLP, reported that the movement of passport-visa holders remained uninterrupted.
