Week-long Tree Plantation Campaign and Fair Begins in Jhenaidah

Jhenaidah: A seven-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair began today in the district with the slogan of ‘Let’s do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh.’ Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal inaugurated the campaign and fair at a function organized by the district administration and Forest Department on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office around 10 am.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hosne Ara, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Shashti Chandra Roy, District Assistant Conservator of Forests Gias Uddin and others were present at the event. The initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and encourage afforestation efforts in the region.



Earlier, a colorful rally organized by the district administration was brought out from the Payra crossing and ended at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, parading the main streets of the town. The rally was a vibrant display of the community’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.



Different tree saplings were distributed among students to foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment from a young age. A total of 24 stalls have been set up at the fair, showcasing various types of saplings and providing information on the benefits of tree plantation and conservation practices.
