Dhaka: Water levels at 73 river stations monitored by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have shown a rise, while 43 stations have recorded a fall. Among the 119 monitored river stations, water levels at five stations have remained steady, and no stations are currently flowing above the danger level, as per a bulletin issued by the FFWC today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the water levels of the Surma-Kushiyara rivers are on the rise, with expectations that they may stabilize over the next day before beginning to fall over the subsequent two days. Moderate to moderately heavy rainfall is predicted in this basin over the next three days.
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers are also experiencing rising water levels, a trend anticipated to persist for the next four days. However, these rivers are projected to remain below the danger level. Similarly, the Ganges and Padma rivers are observing an increase in water levels, expected to continue for the next five days.
In the Chattogram Division, the water levels of the Gomti, Muhuri, and Feni rivers remain stable, whereas the Halda, Sangu, and Matamuhuri rivers are witnessing a decline in water levels, all flowing below the danger level. The water levels in these rivers are likely to stay stable for the next 24 hours and start rising in the following two days, with moderate-heavy to heavy rainfall forecasted in this basin over the next three days.
