Rajshahi: Eminent banker Wahida Begum has joined Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) as its Managing Director (MD).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Wahida Begum previously served as the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the state-owned Agrani Bank and Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank. A press release from RAKUB confirmed her appointment as the first-ever female MD in the bank’s 38-year history.
Wahida Begum began her banking career in 1998 as a senior officer at Rupali Bank. She gained experience working across various branches and divisions before eventually being promoted to Deputy Managing Director. Her academic background includes both graduation and post-graduation degrees in Economics from Jahangirnagar University.
Hailing from a respectable Muslim family in Begumganj Upazila in Noakhali District, Wahida Begum has participated in numerous training sessions, workshops, seminars, and symposiums both domestically and internationally throughout her extensive career in banking.
