Two Shopkeepers Penalized for Overcharging During Ramadan in Boalkhali

Boalkhali: Two shopkeepers in Boalkhali upazila have been fined for overcharging customers on essential items such as soybean oil, chickpeas, and onions. The fines were imposed by a mobile court during a campaign in the Shakpura area, led by Assistant Commissioner (land) and Executive Magistrate Kaniz Fatema.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court penalized ‘Golbahar Traders’ and ‘Mukta Traders’ with fines of Tk 5000 and Tk 2000 respectively for maintaining inflated prices on these essential goods. As part of the operation, prices at various markets, including those selling rice, fruits, vegetables, and fish, were also inspected.



Magistrate Kaniz Fatema stated that the ongoing market monitoring efforts aim to ensure that the prices of essential products remain reasonable. The mobile court operations will continue as part of these efforts to regulate the market effectively.
