Batumi: International woman master Wadifa Ahmed from Bangladesh is set to participate in the FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025, which is commencing in Batumi, Georgia tomorrow. Her participation follows a significant victory in the Asian Zonal 3.2 women’s group chess championship held in Sri Lanka last March.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Wadifa Ahmed secured her qualification for this prestigious event through her impressive performance at the Asian Zonal championship. The FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025 will feature a total of 107 players competing in a knockout format.

In the first round, Wadifa Ahmed will face French international master and women’s grand master Daoulyte-Cornetti Deimante. The format requires Wadifa to secure a win in one match and a draw in another to advance to the second round of the competition.
