Dhaka:The voice in an audio clip suggesting that "nothing would happen if Sheikh Hasina returned to Bangladesh in December" has been confirmed as that of former Cantonment Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rakibul Islam.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the confirmation was made through a court-approved forensic voice test, as stated by Additional Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam of the Detective Branch (DB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The announcement came during a press briefing on the arrest of three suspects found with counterfeit medicines and equipment at the DMP Media Centre. Investigators are currently examining the details of Rakibul's conversation, including the individual he spoke to and the purpose of the communication.
In a related development, DB's Wari division apprehended three individuals in Mohammadpur for allegedly possessing large quantities of counterfeit and unauthorized medicines. The seized items included syrups, capsules, tablets, and manufacturing and packaging equipment, some of which were intended for children.
A case has been filed against the suspects under the Special Powers Act. Investigations are underway to identify the source, manufacturers, suppliers, and other parties involved in the counterfeit medicine operation.
