Victory Day International Rating Chess Competition Set to Begin in Dhaka

DHAKA: The Victory Day International Rating Chess competition is scheduled to commence tomorrow at the Post Office Bhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon, as announced by the Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF). The event will feature over 250 participants and will be conducted in a nine-round Swiss-league format.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Muhammad Hiruzzaman, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, will inaugurate the competition as the chief guest at 2:30 p.m. Notable attendees include Bangladesh Police DIG and BCF Vice President Shoeib Reaz Alam, and Dhaka North City Corporation Secretary Mohammed Masud Alam Siddique, who will serve as special guests. The ceremony will be presided over by BCF President and former Secretary Syed Shujauddin Ahmed.

The competition promises a total cash prize of Taka two lakh for the winners. The event is part of BCF’s ongoing efforts to promote chess in Bangladesh, drawing significant attention from both local and international chess players
