Dhaka: The Bangladesh Under-19 team returned home today after a triumphant African tour.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during their month-long tour in Africa, the Bangladesh youngsters clinched victory in the youth ODI series against hosts South Africa, followed by a successful campaign in the tri-nation tournament held in Zimbabwe. The team was warmly greeted by BCB Head of Game Development, Habibul Bashar Sumon, upon their arrival in Dhaka.
The Under-19 team narrowly missed a series sweep in South Africa, winning the four-match series by 3-1. After securing victories in the first three matches with a margin exceeding 100 runs, they faced a defeat in the fourth youth ODI due to inclement weather. The rain-interrupted game resulted in a 14-run loss via the DLS method.
Continuing their dominant performance, the team excelled in the tri-nation series, which included South Africa and hosts Zimbabwe. They lost just one match out of six in the group phase, a defeat handed by South Africa. However, they avenged this loss by defeating South Africa by 33 runs in the final to ultimately claim the trophy.
The highly successful African tour is expected to provide a significant boost for the team ahead of their World Cup journey next year.
