Dhaka: The much-awaited Velociti 15K run is set to take place at the Hatirjheel Amphitheater in the capital tomorrow. The event will feature a 7.5-kilometer and 15-kilometer race for adults, commencing at 5:30 am, followed by a one-kilometer run for children at 8 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event is organized by Velociti, a prominent sports event management organization. Co-sponsors for the event include Chayabithi Riverview Resort, Easy to Europe, and Trip Zik, with Hat Bakso and Bonoya serving as gift sponsors. Approximately 1,500 participants are expected to compete across the three categories: 15 km, 7.5 km, and 1 km.
The event promises attractive prize money for the winners of the 7.5 km and 15 km races, with the top three finishers receiving cash prizes, while those placing fourth to tenth will receive crests. The senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, will grace the event as the chief guest.
The organizers emphasize that the primary aim of the event is to steer the youth away from drugs and towards sports, while also promoting fitness and awareness among the participants.
