Noakhali: The Village Defence Party (VDP) Day was celebrated in the district with colorful arrangements and various programmes. The day’s activities commenced at 11:00 am when Ansar and Village Defence Force (VDP) District Commandant Md. Ashrafuzzaman inaugurated the celebrations by releasing balloons at the district Ansar and VDP office premises.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after the inauguration, a rally led by the district commandant paraded through important roads of the district town, concluding at the District Ansar and VDP office premises. A discussion meeting followed the rally, involving Ansar and VDP members. District Commandant Md. Ashrafuzzaman addressed the gathering, emphasizing that members are being trained, including in modern weapons, to effectively respond to any disaster situation in the country.
He highlighted that Ansar and VDP members are always prepared through training and often the first to respond in times of crisis, working to address national challenges. He urged members to uphold the force’s tradition, honor, and dignity while discharging their duties.
The commandant expressed hope that Ansar and VDP members would remain active at the grassroots level in the future and play a significant role in the upcoming national elections. Sadar Upazila Ansar VDP Officer Md. Hammad Bin Hossain, Sonaimuri Upazila Ansar VDP Officer Md. Abul Bashir, Begumganj Upazila Ansar VDP Officer Md. Faisal Mizan, Companiganj Upazila Ansar VDP Officer Firoza Khatun, and over 150 Ansar and VDP members from different upazilas attended the event.
The Village Defence Party was established on this day in 1976 with the motto, ‘We are everywhere in peace, order, development and security.’
