Satkhira: Two factories faced a fine totaling Taka 2.5 lakh after a mobile court operation discovered their involvement in manufacturing adulterated fertilizers and selling low-quality zinc, boron, and TSP fertilizers in Sultanpur Borobazar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sadar upazila, Md. Badruddoza. It targeted fertilizer, pesticide, and seed shops across the area. Officials seized a large quantity of adulterated fertilizers and pesticides during the operation, responding to growing complaints about the sale of substandard products across the country.
Authorities have noted a rise in complaints regarding the sale of adulterated fertilizers and pesticides, which have resulted in crop losses and increased production costs for farmers. The recent crackdown in Sultanpur Barabazar is expected to protect farmers’ interests and prevent further economic damage.
Md. Badruddoza stated that the raid was executed following a tip-off, leading to the identification of two factories-M/s Robi Enterprise and M/s Islam Enterprise-actively engaged in producing adulterated products. The operation resulted in the confiscation of a significant quantity of these substandard fertilizers and pesticides.
